KIMBERLY CLARK

DISTRIBUTION CENTRE

THE PROBLEM.

Kimberly Clark is a multinational company that specializes in personal care products, such as Kleenex, Huggies, and Kotex. Their Melbourne distribution center is a crucial facility for their operations, and the lighting system is essential for the safety and productivity of the workers. In 2019, Kimberly Clark partnered with Australian Energy Upgrades to conduct an energy audit of the Melbourne site and improve their lighting system.

As a result of the audit, Kimberly Clark decided to upgrade their lighting system to LED lighting. LED lights consume significantly less energy than traditional lighting and have a longer lifespan. Additionally, LED lighting emits less heat, which reduces the load on the HVAC system, further reducing energy consumption.

The benefits of upgrading to LED lighting for Kimberly Clark were significant. First, the energy savings from the LED lighting resulted in lower electricity bills, reducing operating costs. Second, the longer lifespan of LED lights meant less maintenance and replacement costs over time. Finally, the reduced heat emissions from the LED lighting reduced the load on the HVAC system, resulting in additional energy savings.

But the benefits of the upgrade didn’t stop at just financial savings. The new LED lighting also improved working conditions for employees by providing brighter and more consistent lighting, reducing eye strain and increasing productivity. Additionally, LED lighting is better for the environment due to its lower energy consumption and longer lifespan.

THE ANSWER.

Over 263 lights were upgraded to LED, resulting in a 10-year savings worth $911,413.04. The annual savings of $91,141.30 will not only significantly reduce the company’s energy bills but will also help to reduce their carbon footprint. LED lights are known for their energy efficiency and longevity, making them an ideal choice for commercial and industrial applications.

The installation of the new LED lights was completed with minimal disruption to the distribution center’s operations. Australian Energy Upgrades worked closely with Kimberly-Clark to ensure that the project was completed on time and within budget. The new lighting has also provided a brighter and more comfortable working environment for the employees at the Melbourne site.

Kimberly-Clark’s decision to upgrade their lighting to LED is an excellent example of how businesses can make a significant impact on the environment while also saving money on energy bills. Australian Energy Upgrades is proud to have been a part of this project and is committed to helping more businesses in Australia achieve their energy efficiency goals.

How Does Solar
Work?

Solar Panels work through receiving the sun's energy and transform it into electricity consumed for household and commercial purposes. These consist of photovoltaic cells (PV), wirings to allow energy flow and a glass packaging. Photovoltaic cells are made of silicon, constructed with a negative and a positive layer which together creates an electric field.
