Hot Water Rebates

VEU Overview

Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) Program

Established by the Victorian Government, the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program encourages homes and businesses to reduce carbon emissions through purchasing energy-efficient systems at a discounted cost. This program has helped more than 1.8 million households and 100,000 businesses enjoy energy-efficiency product rebates since 2009.

Each upgrade enables businesses working under Accredited Providers program to generate Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs). These certificates are equivalent to the gas emissions prevented through the upgrades. VEECs can be sold by the accredited providers to energy retailers. The amount of rebate homes and businesses can receive depends on the market activity and the certificate price.

Solar Victoria
Hot Water Rebate

The Department of Environment, Water, Land and Planning developed Solar Victoria Hot Water Rebate to reduce energy costs, increase energy supply, offer more jobs, improve renewable energy industry and control climate change.

More than 33,000 households have joined the program and installed solar power and hot water systems during its initial year, which reflects the strong interest of Victorians in embracing renewable energy, controlling electricity bills and making a change. More information about this rebate can be accessed here:

Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES)

The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) is an initiative from the Federal Government that grants discounts for renewable energy system users. Systems include Solar and Hot water systems. Under this program, small-scale renewable energy consumers are entitled to receive a number of Small-scale Renewable Energy Certificates (STCs).

STC varies on geographical locations, purchase or installation date and the total amount of electricity (in megawatt hours) saved using the upgraded system for up to 10 years. More details about Small-scale Renewable Energy System is discussed in this link:
