Newell Brands

DISTRIBUTION CENTRE

THE PROBLEM.

Newell Brands, a leading global consumer goods company, recently partnered with Australian Energy Upgrades to upgrade the lighting system at their distribution center. The aim of the upgrade was to reduce energy consumption, lower costs, and create a more comfortable working environment for staff.

The first step in the process was to conduct an on-site lighting audit to determine the current lighting system’s energy efficiency and identify areas for improvement. The audit revealed that the existing lighting system was outdated and inefficient, with many areas of the warehouse being poorly lit.

Australian Energy Upgrades worked closely with Newell Brands staff to design a new lighting system that would meet their specific needs. The design included energy-efficient LED lighting fixtures that provided higher quality lighting while using less energy than the previous system.

Overall, the partnership between Newell Brands and Australian Energy Upgrades demonstrates the importance of collaboration between businesses and energy efficiency experts in achieving sustainability goals. By working together, businesses can not only reduce their energy costs but also create better working conditions for their staff and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future.

THE ANSWER.

The audit conducted by Australian Energy Upgrades identified areas where lighting could be improved, including replacing outdated fluorescent tubes and high bay fittings with energy-efficient LED lighting. In total, Australian Energy Upgrades upgraded over 353 lights to LED, resulting in an estimated 78% annual lighting energy saving.

The LED lighting upgrade has provided significant benefits to Newell’s distribution center. The company now enjoys brighter and more efficient lighting, reducing their carbon footprint while saving on energy costs. In addition, the LED lighting upgrade has increased the site’s overall safety and security, creating a more productive working environment for employees.

Moreover, Newell Brands can look forward to significant cost savings in the long run. The estimated 10-year savings from the LED lighting upgrade are worth $918,530.91, providing a substantial return on investment.

In conclusion, Newell Brands’ partnership with Australian Energy Upgrades has resulted in a successful and sustainable lighting upgrade that benefits both the company and the environment. This initiative demonstrates how simple yet effective energy-saving solutions can provide significant benefits to businesses, the environment, and the wider community.

How Does Solar
Work?

Solar Panels work through receiving the sun's energy and transform it into electricity consumed for household and commercial purposes. These consist of photovoltaic cells (PV), wirings to allow energy flow and a glass packaging. Photovoltaic cells are made of silicon, constructed with a negative and a positive layer which together creates an electric field.
