Victoria

Solar Homes Program

Victorian households are given rebates of $1,400 off the cost of solar through the Victorian Solar Homes Program, a $1.3 billion program that subsidises up to 50% of the actual cost of the installation of energy efficiency systems like solar panels and hot water systems.

Solar PV rebate available: $1,400

Solar PV interest free loan available: $1,400

Victorians are eligible to receive the rebate upon meeting the following criteria:

  • You are the owner-occupier of the property.
  • As Owner/s you have a combined taxable income of less than $180,000/year as based on last year’s Australian Tax Office Notice of Assessment
  • The existing property is valued at under $3,000,000.
  • You do not have an existing Solar System.
  • You are an early adopter of Solar Panel (PV) prior to November 1, 2009 and are looking for replacement or system expansion.

Claiming your solar rebate

  • Contact Australian Energy Upgrades to get a quote.
  • Australian Energy Upgrades will then upload your quote to the Solar Victoria Portal which serves as the beginning of your eligibility assessment.
  • You will be asked to upload a proof of income and rates of notice to confirm your details.
  • Wait for your eligibility number.
  • Forward the eligibility number to Australian Energy Upgrades. We will then proceed to the installation.
  • Australian Energy Upgrades will claim the rebate on your behalf and deduct its amount from the total cost of your solar panel system.
  • Pay the remaining balance to Australian Energy Upgrades once the system is installed.
  • To further support households in reducing costs, owners are encouraged to apply for an interest-free loan for the value identical to the rebate amount.
  • You can apply for an interest-free loan of up to $1,400 and there will be no upfront cost if your total system cost is less than $2,800. Note that the loan is mandated to be paid over four years.

Here's Why You Should Go Solar

The power starts as soon as the sun shines. Solar panels are guaranteed to provide a consistent, stable energy all throughout the day.

Solar Panels require very little, to no maintenance.

These panels don’t create noises while generating energy. Viable to be installed from busy cities to rural places.

Solar Panels are made from silicon sheets and ensure no danger in cells leaking or fumes.
