Victorian households are given rebates of $1,400 off the cost of solar through the Victorian Solar Homes Program, a $1.3 billion program that subsidises up to 50% of the actual cost of the installation of energy efficiency systems like solar panels and hot water systems.

This program’s objective is to help South Australian residences to have access to a home battery by offering subsidies of up to $6000 towards the installation, regardless of the size of the battery equipment. These home batteries not only provide secured electricity during outages but also store power generated by solar panels during peak periods, to be used in the night or days of low sunlight.
